Mitt did a press conference last week with a whole troop of women in the background. This was an effort to show he is backed by women (and I wonder how many of them are actually going to vote for him). I wonder, are these people who stand behind a politician paid for doing this? Well, I digress.
What he didn’t take into account, and some news media conveniently forgot to tell you, is that those women are owners of a company started by women, and run by women, and the company was started under Obama’s presidency and is thriving. So much for women for Romney. Thanks for MSNBC for letting me know the truth about the photo.
Pennsylvania is desperately trying to cut billions our of their public school budgets and force everyone to use chartered schools. This, of course, would mean a lot of children from poor families would not be able to go to school, and this is exactly what the conservatives want – a dumbed-down population who cannot think for itself, who will do what they are told to do by better-educated, silken-tongued orators. Thank goodness I believe people are too smart to let them get away with this. We need all of our people to be educated, thus my socialist attitude towards education (and health care).
Mitt Romney’s strings are being pulled by Grover Norquist, among others. Grover just wants a president who has five fingers, who can manage to sign his name to all the laws Grover Norquist wants followed. And Grover said so on national television.
When Shepherd Smith of Fox News read a statement from Mitt Romney that he and Rick Santorum are good friends, after Santorum reluctantly endorsed him, Shepherd looked at the camera and said this was just weird and creepy, and proof of lies that are said. I loved that this was done on Fox News, the center of right-winged press.
Is Exxon-Mobile’s CEO more powerful than the US President? Seems so. He dictated after the Alaska Valdez oil spill to the president to tell the Head of the Coast Guard that they weren’t going to get the help they needed to clean up the spill. I think this was during King George (HWB) I reign. Very interesting.
Norm Ornstein, who is a very non-partisan writer, co-author of “It’s Even Worse Than It Looks” recently wrote an op-ed in which he stated “Let’s face it – the problem is the Republicans”. I’d love to find a copy of that.
And just for a small tidbit, on a recent talk show where Ann Romney was trying to tell us how very laid-back Mitt is, how he cares about the poor people and the middle class, she was wearing a silk tee-shirt that someone who knows fashion later identified as costing $990. A t-shirt. Almost $1000 dollars. Yeah, they care all right, about their own pleasures.
